The Emperor Has No Clothes

I’ve been so convicted by the chapters and verses I’ve been reading in the Bible, as well as the articles, podcasts, and studies I’ve come across in the last few months. If I were to summarize my thinking with each deeper revelation, it would be this:

I have so many things wrong.

I’m not saying I have everything wrong, there are good deposits, but my approach to life and the emphasis of my Christianity for the most part has been very far from Christlike.

But you serve the poor

Match the excellence of your life with excellence of your love

So let’s go back to the essentials:

Love the Lord your God.
Love your neighbour.

These are the two things we have to do. These are the all-important commands.
Yet, here we find the poetic genius of Jesus. When asked, what are the most important “commands” or what “laws” must we uphold, He answers, “Love”. What’s so ingenious about that? Because love is something you can’t command.
