Expand

Expand your view of the infinite
How can glory be fully grasped?
Instead, pray with hearts wide open
Waiting patiently with hands unclasped
Maybe wide palms make more sense
When what is desired is humility
Maybe we’ll discover vast truth
As our worship triggers curiosity
Show me Your bigness, great God
Don’t let my minuscule biases dictate
What brings me comfort and peace
Instead, teach me how to appreciate
The twinkling of great stars in the sky
As well as the twinkling in every eye
To pause long enough to immerse
In this great world under a great sky

Overall awesome poem but this would have to be my favorite part. Speaks to current personal circumstance. Thank you for sharing!

The introductory image is both abstract and simple, for words are not enough to describe infinite or glory. But it gets a person into thinking.

On the third line, I’m a little confused if the imagery meant refers to a person’s hearing senses (physical, emotional, & spiritual) or a literal image of the “ears”… because the 4th line brings “hands” into the picture.
