With You • This poem is inspired by a simple son With You • This poem is inspired by a simple song @yasminperucchetti and @elijahbonifacio like to sing while swimming in circles in the pool. I was reminded of it while doing my devotions and meditations one morning, and wrote this.
Don @elijahbonifacio had his last hurrah before th Don @elijahbonifacio had his last hurrah before the lockdown.☹️ The good thing about these lockdowns is that I spent a lot more time with family. I was pretty bad at this pre-pandemic. That’s a big thing I’m grateful for.
Today, I did my Tuesday Workout Set which includes Today, I did my Tuesday Workout Set which includes 80 Straight Bridges for skill work, 60 Single Arm Kettle Bell Swings (per arm with 12kg) and 60 Kettle Bell Swings (with 20kg) for warmup, then followed this up with a 15km bike ride on my @focale44 fixie. I did all this while fasting since 1pm yesterday - BECAUSE - of this @crostapizzeria Detroit Truffle that I shared with @jvdrufino!!! But it was worth it. Thank you @jayrodster for introducing me to my favorite cheat meal.
I saw @elijahbonifacio like this and asked him, “What are you thinking of?” He said, “I’m not thinking.” Like a true man, my son enjoys his “nothing box”. 😂
I was literally on the toilet and thinking (more l I was literally on the toilet and thinking (more like worrying) about the cascading effects of this new variant and new lockdown. Decided to fix my eyes on other things, on things to be grateful for and things to look forward to. Out of that “shitty”moment came this poem. Hope everyone has a good night and a restful weekend!
Dear Bridge, When Covid hit, and the first lockdo Dear Bridge, When Covid hit, and the first lockdown happened, our teams at @bridgesoutheast @bridgepayday.ph and @storiesofaccess focused on one thing: growth would look like strong roots not fancy branches. By that we meant we would anchor ourselves on the ground with good fundamentals, we would absorb as much resources and learning, and we would ally, intertwine our roots, with partners and customers we wanted to be with for the long term. This came with many difficulties but we stuck with it and now enjoy a much improved situation. In the second lockdown, the feeling of being back where we started was obvious, so we decided to focus on going on the offense. We couldn’t wait and see. We couldn’t expect defense to save us. We needed to really start moving forward by planting the right seeds. So we prioritized resources for new projects - even small ones - being creative to find opportunities and provide value even with our tight budget. This next lockdown, the focus is Stay the Course. In every metric that matters to us, our mission is on track, our customers are served, our value to them is increasing, and we are profitable, with our younger investments having extremely low burn. Are things still difficult? Extremely. But we are also much stronger. We are not back where we started. We are in a much better place. Because our position is not determined by circumstances and our value is not determined by our valuation. It is determined by us waking up every single day to create more and more value for our customers - and we’ve been doing exactly that. Don’t let yet another lockdown or variant change that. If the past two lockdowns are a sign of things to come, I hope you’re as excited as I am! Enjoy this lockdown! I had coffee with @natepunzalan6 yesterday, and on I had coffee with @natepunzalan6 yesterday, and one of the things we chatted about was Creativity. Creativity isn’t simply artsy, or colorful, or expressive, or crafty, or experimental (they all mean their own things but do many times go along with creativity). Creativity is the combination of the ability to imagine an extremely clear and individuated picture in your head and the ability to diligently see it come to life. This isn’t seen in the way one poses and isn’t measured by the number of posts one has. True creatives, have an aura of originality and a necessary depth because they aren’t chasing the scores others chase but their own individuated vision. Individuate. I love this word. It means to take all your life’s experiences and all of who you are, good and bad, and you integrate them into the single you that is true, not to the score others give you or your more animalistic tendencies, but to your best possible self and the vision in your head.
If I Can Imagine It The morning has gotten off to If I Can Imagine It The morning has gotten off to a great start. Along with my usual “Wake” routine of Devotions, Meditations, and Activations (workout), I had an inspiring 5am call, and enjoyed a nice surprise from my 3 year old who probably woke up early because of my loud voice. After my call, I sat with him on the sofa and pointed to the mole on his palm, “Oh wow! You’re like Temujin!” “What’s Temujin?” He asked. And I explained that Temujin was a warrior and leader who would conquer most of the known world. He was born with a blood clot in his hand (not exactly a mole) and is more famously known as Genghis Khan. “So I’m a warrior?” He asked. “You better believe it. That’s why you better be a good warrior.” And he proceeded to punch my face and laugh. 😂 I told him, “Close your eyes. Do you see the Elephant? What color is it?” He said, “Yes. It’s a big elephant. It’s blue.” I said, “Awesome! You’re using your imagination!” And he said, “What’s imagination?” I said, “It’s what you use to see the Elephant.” And he said something that really startled me, “No Dada. I see it with my eyes. I can taste the elephant in my mouth. He tastes like a tootie (cookie). It’s an elephant tootie but it’s quiet, so I can’t hear it.” I was reminded of the amazing imagination of a child, that is so powerful, Elijah didn’t even see it as imagining but simply his senses in action. This is why children develop exponentially and adults just keep running into limitations: An adult thinks “if it exists then I can picture it”, while the child thinks “if I can picture it, then it exists.”
I’m fascinated by the idea of metabolism, about I’m fascinated by the idea of metabolism, about how systems are sustained by the ins and outs of energy. One of those interesting ideas concerns what happens when a system has “too much”, like when the body eats too much so the excess calories are stored as fat or excreted. I really think people today have too much, so much non-essential noise that our minds are unable to metabolize all the information and sensory load. Then we wonder why we mentally breakdown. Our minds cannot effectively breakdown, absorb, and apply all the things we are taking in. Yet instead of slowing down, cutting off, and reevaluating ourselves, we blame an uncaring world and insensitive others, as if that is of any good, to those we blame and ourselves.

Post-Run Mush • @yasminperucchetti makes me my f Post-Run Mush • @yasminperucchetti makes me my favorite muesli with a lot of nuts and seeds, oats, raisins and cranberries, no sugar, no sweeteners, and baked in coconut oil, mixed with Greek Yogurt. When I asked her to compute the per serving cost and the macros, she just made a face and said, “You do it. I’m not the one trying to lose weight.” 😂 She has some of the funniest answers. When I asked her if she could see abs on me, she just said, “Hmmm… I can see mine.”😂 Or when she found out I had a Facebook Fan Page, she laughed and said, “Seriously??! You really have a fan page?? That’s just because they don’t really know you!” 😂 I’m very fortunate to have my wife. I find her comments to be super funny. Notes: - I find that I’ve been going back to these 4 books, reading different parts that trigger a rabbit hole of thoughts. They are Sapiens, King’s Cross (now called Christ the King, I think), Scale, and Dominion. - For me, I read to enjoy, understand, and expand. I thoroughly enjoyed these 4 books, they helped me understand old and new things better, and they expanded how I look at things. - Even with books, our consumer mentality sucks the possible value of the text. The best book you can read, the one you should read, is the one you already have NOT the one on a best seller’s list or on another person’s shelf. I’ve had these books for years and I still draw so much value from them! - That blister of golden capsules is Issho Genki Squalene. I probably take this more than anyone in the world. My supplementation is super simple: nutrition from food as much as possible, a multivitamin, Squalene, creatine, and protein. I don’t use any pre or post workouts, any special cocktails, or anything that’s confusing.

Overall, a really fun time but popped a blister on my right big toe which is never nice. What’s your favorite low-cost gear? I remember when I was first learning tennis, I came to the club in an all Nike outfit, a new racket, and new bag, and proceeded to look like a well-dressed idiot on the court. I remember the trainer commenting, “Mamaya na ja-porms. Gumaling ka muna!” and another coach telling me he learned how to play tennis with the flat side of a Tanduay bottle! Those have really stuck with me. Whenever I’m looking at gear, I can audibly hear that trainer taunting me, “Mamaya na ja-porms. Gumaling ka muna.” That was over 20 years ago! But you need these voices and stories in your head. You need to be reminded that it is not about what you have but about what you, yourself, can accomplish with whatever you already have. It’s not about how you look but about who you are. Notes: - These days, if anyone told someone that, he would run home, cry on his pillow, and tweet about how the world doesn’t support dreamers anymore - and completely miss the benefit of the criticism. Even worse, thousands of people will try to cancel that trainer and encourage Mr. Japorms that he’s valuable no matter what others say. The net result is a canceled trainer, a still unskilled Mr. Japorms, and a mob that moves on to pretend to care about the next trending “injustice”, already forgetting about the last cause. A complete waste of energy. When you’re criticized don’t run for a hug but run to training, run to study, and run to work ethic. - I still look like an idiot when I’m playing against @chasetinio but just no longer well-dressed. 😂
