Lay Me Down
Love is at its most beautiful peak when we can love despite it costing us everything. When we can lay our very own lives, not just in heroic death, but in heroic living. Heroic living means dying every single day to our comforts, our entitlements, our pride, our desires, our expectations. It means dying every single day to ourselves so that others may live – following the example of Jesus who became flesh as us, to live poor among us, that He might die for us, and love us forevermore.
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
