Gomer

I told her to open her eyes, I wanted to look into her soul.
She wanted to be loved for her eyes and kept blinking.

I told her to lay down her life, that she had so much to offer.
She wanted to be honoured, praised, lifted.

I offered her my life, my everything.
She wanted the assurance of the world.

I kissed her forehead.
She kissed another.

I made a promise.
She didn’t bother.

I walked away.
No wonder.

No words.
Regret.

If someone understood unfaithfulness and heartbreak, it’d be Hosea. Good piece, David.

And I remember writing an article entitled Hosea…

Thank you for reading. It’s a reminder to me of the end I face if I choose to remain Gomer.
