Easy and Hard

It’s easy to start but hard to finish. It’s easy to write a blog. It’s tough to live it out. It’s easy to be moved by a post. It takes more work to verify its accuracy. It’s easy to be featured – the world is always looking for the slightest angle to have something to showcase. It’s tough to meet the expectation created. It’s easy to brainstorm. It’s tough to choose the right ideas among the clutter. It’s easy to feel – it’s quite automatic. It’s tough to master feelings. It’s easy to become famous. It’s tough to be a living sacrifice. It’s easy to complain and whine. It’s tough to be humble enough to admit the problem starts with me and it’s even tougher to develop the healthy disciplines and habits needed to correct the problems within myself. It’s easy to do things people recognize us for. It’s tough to do the quiet right things, to do one’s best even in anonymity, to persevere though one fails, and to have convictions though no one shares them.

In other words see through what’s celebrated and know whether something is truly of value. If it’s not, don’t celebrate it. If it is, see beyond the celebration and find the disciplines and insight. Learn to appreciate the tough parts because those are the parts that truly make us grow.
